Top Tech Trends in 2013



2013 promises to unleash an array of new & breakthrough technologies integrated  into products & platforms  with a view to impress  & satiate Tech aficianados  & geeks all across the world taking a step ahead of how yr 2012 fared for everyone .

Here is the list of top tech trends ,technologies & gadgets in 2013 expected to rule the roost in Tech circles Worldover :

1)    Hybrid PC’s – Its on the top of tech wishlist expected to go mainstream this year.As the name suggests ,Hybrid PC’s give the dual advantage of having the utilities of  tablets and laptops/desktops embedded into one gadget by combinings its form factor & specifications to one’s requirements.It was widely being promoted during CES (Consumer Electronics Show)’13 ,Las Vegas by hardware giants like Asus ,Lenovo ,Dell ,HP etc running primarily on Windows 8  & Android platform .Apple is expected to come up with its counterpart too before the markets get lopsided to Microsoft & Google platforms in this segment. Lenovo Thinkpad Helix was adjudged the best PC Hybrid during CES’13.


2)    4K TV’s -  This  revolutionary TV technology  which promises to deliver 4 times full HD (1080p) resolution was introduced in 2012 ,but its adoption in public failed to kick off due to lack of 4K content and technology viability issues. But ,this year its shortcomings have been overcomed by collaboration and strategic tie-ups between developers ,content providers & TV manufacturers. Sony and Samsung are leading with product launches in this segment.Samsung’s massive 85 inch 4K “Easel TV”  is the latest gadget to sport here.





3)    BB10 Smartphones – It is Blackberry last attempt to recapture its lost market share and survive in the fast changing dynamic smartphone market.Blackberry has build this BB10 OS from scratch with a full touchscreen powered hardware marking a radical shift from qwerty keypads on its smartphones.It is expected to launch by Jan end 2013.




4)    Sony PS4 & Microsoft’s XBOX 720 & Nintendo Wii U – It is a welcome change for hardcore gamers with their gaming consoles/platforms undergoing a major overhaul over its hardware ,software & online network capabilities .The previous platforms are already maxed out by gaming developers stretching the gaming content and its subsequent editions/versions to  limits.

5 ) Wirless Charging & NFC goes mainstream-  Though this technology was introduced a few years before ,but its adoption into public use will be pervasive this year with mobile manufacturers ,technology partners & content providers forming a close partnership  & alliance to speed up its implementation.NFC (Near Field Communication ) will be widely be used to make wireless payments for shopping and cash transactional purposes.


Top 5 Gadgets in the pipeline this yr :

·        Samsung Galaxy S4 & Galaxy Note 3 – After the megasucess of Samsung  flagship phones S3 & Note 2 commanding a cumulative sales 55 million sales worldwide.Samsung is leaving no stones unturned to launch much sleeker ,powerful & mass appealing mobile versions of its predecessors. The major technical specfications to look out for are full 1080p display ,multitasking abilities ,fast updates & processors above 1.5 Ghz quadcores & improved battery life.



·        Google’s Project Glass - Project Glass is developed by Google X Lab   which has worked on other futuristic technologies such as self-driving cars with a view to develop an augmented reality head-mounted display (HMD) displaying  information in smartphone-like format hands-free and could interact with the Internet via natural language voice commands (to make it simple ,similar to the way hollywood superhero character  Iron Man communicated in its shield ,though not so powerful &  multidimensional in its capabilities  ).It is expected to go commercial by late 2013  heralding a new era of computing devices.


·        Sony Xperia Z -  It has got rave reviews from Tech pundits & users with its vivid large 5 inch full 1080p screen display integrating Bravia engine Tv standard into it.Sony has completely surprised the smartphone market with this radical gadget in its smartphone portfolio which might reinvigorate its ailing performance in this mobile segment .
